Battery replacement recommendations.

Looks like my group 24 marine starting battery is done. 5 years old and got it with the boat.

Seeing similar prices for marine group 24 from
Canadian Tire
Costco
Walmart.

Any advantage or good or bad experiences from these places? The current battery has cracking amps of 800. The one at Canadian tire has 685amps not sure if that matters for a 90hp Yamaha.

I’d like to look into agm or lithium but I have heard there are issues/risks with those so I’ll stick to a straight replacement.

Any place give a better battery warranty then others?

I ran my costco Deep Cycle for a good 4 years. No issues but replaced with an Interstate. They'd get my vote. Good return policy. I sold it on marketplace for more than the core $10 return you get back from costco. I'd be tempted to get an AGM next time. I'm a one battery kinda a guy.

Thanks everyone. Turns out the battery is a Canada Proof and Canadian Energy is in Esquimalt right on the way home from the the Navy base so I dropped it off there for testing.

If I need a new one they will give me one for a decent price +Military discount (no I didn't ask for one but they offered since I was in uniform) AND no core charge as they will take the old battery back.

I am awaiting the test results but likely from what I could trouble shoot the battery has gone bad.

Cheers all for the recommendations. I didn't even know there were alternatives to the big box stores. I'd rather support local business.

Interstate for me as well. 2014 boat and just replaced the start battery last year and will most likely replace the house battery this year.

That place is awesome I had a huge truck battery from them top of line, it started to fail for some weird reason rolled in there, they changed me out for a brand new one free of charge great guys...It was still in truck when I sold it
