Barkley Sockeye-closing

Hi guys, Barkley Sockeye is probably going to close on Monday at midnight, so get out there as this weekend will be your last shot at it! Rec catches are about 47,000 right now and will probably be around 55,000 when it's all said and done.

Dang i was wanting to get out there next week. It is the inlet aswell right? We were out wed and hit about 20 off of dunsmuir down deeper 90-110 feet.

Hi Unknown, welcome to the forum. Glad to see a very knowledgeable sportie join in the conversation. I believe the reason the DFO is no longer allowed to trade the fish for the test sets is because they were taken to court on the issue. The court ruled they didn't have the right to trade the fisherman's labour for the fish they caught. At least that's what I'd heard.

Regarding the closure, that should come as no surprise. Obviously the run wasn't large enough to permit fishing all summer with pressure from FN's, commercials and sporties.
