I'm planning on fishing Barclay Sound June 4-6th. I've never been up there this early. What's the fishing like?

Pretty good. Thats my favorite time to go actually. The weather can be a crap shoot though. Chovies are king

I used to go in late June for the better tasting springers but, the water can be a problem that time of year if you intend to go out to the banks. Water starts to get much nicer from July. By the second week, the biggies are starting to come in also. We stay at Island West Resort at Ucluelet because they have a freezer space you can rent. Keeps you catch frozen til time to go home.

Great time of year.

Hiroshi - you have to rent freezer space? Even though you are a guest?

hmmm

If you stay at Mills we have a walk in freezer for your catch - included!! Can't believe you'd have to rent space for your fish!!

Cheeeeeezzzyyyyyyy.

Osama and all,

Thanks for all the info. When I say Barclay, I do mean inside the Sound. 2 of the boats going up with me are under 19ft. so we'd not be going off shore. Is it still a great time of year if we only fish inside. My usual spots inside are Swale, Harbor Entrance, Sanford, Ed King, Beal.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Stosh

Last year at that time we got our fish between 140-160 feet on bait and uv purple apex's!!!
