Bamfield: Late September, Early October?

I have a business client that really wants to head out to Bamfield for a couple of days, but our schedules don't work until late September or early October.

What is the fishing like at the time? I assume that the Chinook run has pretty much run its course, but are there still lots of Coho around?

Hello Teamchachi.

It can be VERY good in late September.
My largest fish came then at 7 mile a few years ago.
6" copcar coyote no flasher at 200'.
The radio reports were all poor for coho up top so I plunged the one side.
The rest of that same weekend produced lots 12-18# as well.
So, you can try inside and outside then.
Never had much luck with chickens in close that late 'though.

Smiley.

Teamchaci, good call about coming out in the fall, that's one of my favourite tims to fish out here. Smiley is right. In 5 days most of the people are going to be gone from this town and the bulk of the fish are still coming through. There's lot's of big coho offshore and they're still catching Robertson chinooks in the northern troll fishery off the charlottes so you know more are headed down the coast...arriving in September. Coho peaks out here in Sept and can go into Oct depending on the weather. They've been big this year because of all the bait around, we've got at least 6 already that have been over 20 and had to let lot's of other wild ones go that were similar in size.

Plus you'll have the place to yourself, because everyone thinks the season is over...

Good to hear that the fishing should still be good as I am considering a trip mid month. Also good to hear that the Robertson Creek fish are still on the way. Looked for a while like they might not be showing up in significant numbers.
