Bait fish

Okay, bear with me, I admit I'm a rookie to WCVI but all the post relating bait fish talk about anchovy, not herring. The latter is what I am accustomed to using in Rivers Inlet and in Puget Sound. Are they interchangeable, both in name and in actual usage as bait in WCVI?

no they are not the same name but we have luck on both 5 " anchovy and 5 " herring
