Avet reels

aYup! We went with these for last year's operations - both boats, 4 to a boat. NO failures, No Issues, Worked Flawlessly!
Beat the heck out of any other Hali reel I've used to date!

Nog... What models did you get? I have 2 HX's and the one I just got is an HXW. Thought Id go with the larger spool. Cant wait to hook one with it.

This is a great thread. Lot's of information from first hand users. I'm looking at upgrading some of my Penn's with something a bit higher end that I can use for halibut, tuna, and hell even trolling for salmon as a back up etc.. I want something that cast's half decent too. I don't want to blow the bank though lol. These Avet's seem pretty reasonable for price and they sure look nice and feel nice in the store (yes I have fondled them). Early spring I'll bite the bullet on something. Leaning towards these as alot of stores around here are carrying them now.

i have a2 speed avet for 4 years as my main hali reel- no issues or hiccups. Good choice!!

If your looking for a good casting reel make sure you check out Avets Magged " Magic Cast" option on their reels. I personally have it on my SX model and if you tune it right you can cast miles without even as much as tapping the spool with your thumb, 0 backlash, pretty cool option if your looking for a casting reel.
