can't find to much info on these reels
anyone used them?
what model?
thinking of picking up a few for halis

Nice reels....but they do need to be cleaned and dried out before you put your reel sock over them..just saw a couple that need some pretty hefty bearing work on them because of not drying and cleaning them... Like most reels of course... :)

...love mine, it's a JX 6/3 two speed. I have it teamed up with a Trevala TVC-66H. I am going to get a lighter set up eventually for salmon jigging also.

Avet reels are pretty good bang for your buck.

My only reel complaint is that there is no anti-reverse on the reel, which gets a bit annoying when jigging.

Not sure exactly what you mean?

@kthomas - by saying "no" anti-reverse are you saying that Avet reels are single action reels? I can ensure you that is not the case. Further if you mean no free spool, that too is not the case. The lever drag Avet reels that we sell at PNT are all capable of free spool drops and are also castable. Perhaps the reel that you have used is not set up correctly. The Avet reel that I own works perfectly for jigging. It free spool drops and casts better than most level wind reels that I have owned in my life time.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Avet reels do have an anti-reverse, but there definitely is some play. You can move the spool about a 1/4 inch before the anti-reverse kicks in. This, IMO, is annoying when jigging.

Sorry for the confusion. It was wrong of me to state that there is no anti-reverse. It's been a long week, and its only wednesday...

@kthomas - I still don't fully understand exactly what you mean...I am not having any issues like what you are describing. I wonder if your reel has an issue that I have yet to encounter with mine? Which model do you own?

Whole...

PNT does. Nikka Does.

I now have a few Avets in different sizes for different applications. They seems quite low Maintenance and i have yet to have any problems with any of the models. If you have the cash its worth looking into Accurate reels also. I order my reels through www.charkbait.com , very convenient.

That is a US outfit. How do you get your reels serviced? How much does it cost?

I have yet to Service any of them as they are all quite new, but I have read that you can ship them to Avet down in Cali and have them serviced for a fee of around 30 - 35 dollars.

Hey there. I own three Avet reels that I use for hali fishing. I gotta say... I LOVE EM!!! Ive had two for a couple of years now and I just got my third. They
have been problem free so far. I just rinse them in fresh water after every trip and they have never let me down. The drag is absolutely amazing and I love the fact that I can open them up and service them on my own. Best hali reel Ive ever owned.. Hands down.

aYup! We went with these for last year's operations - both boats, 4 to a boat. NO failures, No Issues, Worked Flawlessly!
Beat the heck out of any other Hali reel I've used to date!

Cheers,
Nog
