Just a little rant here. Out and about in the wilderness today, and I was struck once again by how unpleasant some people seem to be. A man and his wife were getting some firewood at the side of a spur we were driving down. We were going slow, and the man was obviously looking our way. As any well adjusted people would do, we gave him polite smiles as we passed. He did not reciprocate. Rather, he posed, with arms crossed, scowling at us as though he would sooner blow our heads off than say hello. Thing is, he was out in nature (or at least what's left after the feller bunchers are done) doing something I presume he enjoys, with someone I presume he loves. So why shy away from demonstrating that you're actually enjoying yourself? I suppose he's just bashful, but he came across as a real loser. At least "Mr. Happy" was the butt of a few wise cracks throughout the afternoon.

Nah, they don't bug me at all. I just can't figure them out; actually kind of feel sorry for these types. Why be grumpy doing what you want to do????

Anyway, I'd had the same access problem last time in -the time that you slept in till like noon or something!!! Good to be able to get back in there now. I was really concerned that it would be a giant pain to access from now on.

You come across all kinds out there. I am always polite and helpful to anyone out in the bush and I expect the same from them. When I come across folks like this I always stop and talk to them. It only takes a few minutes and I am just as curious as they are in what the heck they are doing. If the guy crossed his arms and gave a scowl that would be even more grounds to stop and say what's the problem. Don't let anyone **** you off it will only ruin your day. From the sounds of it yes he was a loser but still worth talking to even if was to give him your piece of mind:rolleyes::).

I am sure you could walk into a church and find some of the same ilk.. It takes all kinds... blah blah..

P.S. Need your digits again... had to do an inbox purge and made a boo-boo... Quick like...

SS2, my guess is the guy was doing something he thought he shouldn't (no idea whether you can, in fact, gather firewood there). When he saw you he thought you were officialdom come to deal with him so he put on his best assertive, "who the hell are you", "what does it mater to you" posture. Not excusing the behaviour at all. Just thought it sounds and looks like an aggressive response to guilt, 'tis all.......

that sounds like my old neighbor. the guy was a complete ahole and he probably thought the same about me! even his kids would give me stinkeye

I used to have a neighbor that was a complete a hole scouling and never saying hi. I found out later that he was nearly blind and couldn't make out peoples facial expressions. It does seem that the world is becoming a much angrier place though.
