Attaching power pro to Scotty Dr.

I've been running 200lb Power Pro for a couple years on one side and a year on the other. Love it. To attach to drum and keep counter realistic (because PP has such a thinner diameter) i left most of the remaining SS cable on and wrapped over it with a couple of layers of duct tape, Then did the bowline to make the loop for a choker noose which I positioned on the drum so it tightened rather than looseing when pulled. Wound it on same as SS with a bit of resistance. On the business end, palomar knot to the snubber swivels. I had no luck with the blaze or chartruse stoppers by Scotty. PP just cut them in two when the ball was stopped suddenly. Had some luck using the small crimp ons I used to use with the SS, but think they cut the line over time due to sharp edge. The brass finish stoppers by Scotty work great and one near the bottom keeps the spring gear down. Problem came when running sockeye gear, stacking lines. Friend mentioned the double Scotty release and clip rig. Bought one and made up 3 more to match, perfect. Work real well for all the reasons GDW mentions. Only thing I can complain about is bending over the side to attach the sliding clip on the line and I think I'm going to try a couple with the standard quick clips. Doesn't matter if they move cause the release clip on the braid stays put. I tried surgical tube and heat shrink on my quick releases. The surgical tube falls off at the most inopportune times. The shrink tube stays on the clip great, but once it slides on the line it gets a bit of a groove in it and its a ***** to get off the line as well as now it slides easier. The double Scotties are the way to go.

tie the braid to a 4-6ft piece of ganion, then tie the ganion to the rubber snubber, attach release clip to ganion..1 thing to remember is to redo your knots with braid every couple months or so(braid-ganion...ganion to rubber snubber)..as for tying braid to wire, not sure that would be a good idea. The salt would corrode the wire underneath the braid causing rust, which would cause the braid to rot. Braid does rot and corrode...losing cannon balls sucks..I put 100 ft of backing and 300ft of braid, tied to ganion, then to rubber snubber. snubbers r important especially for winter fishing, braid cant take the abuse that cable can, thats why i use thin ganion then the snubber....all in all i still prefer cable, i think the blowback is close to same, shallow fishing a bit less, but deep fishing not much difference......anyway just thought id trow that out there.....regardzzzzz
