It ia a large self propelled barge, don't think it is capable of packing live fish, morts probably. Mostly supplies as it is equiped with a crane. I saw it once while out, and I was suprised by the amount (lack thereof) of freeboard. My condolances to the families of those lost

That's a fish farm packer is it not?

Who fn cares who or what they are working for!?...
Yes Its a barge that contracts out to Marine Harvest...
My son has worked on this exact barge and now works on a barge similar to this that contracts out to Greig...
These guys are heading out to work and only want to come home to loved ones...
My son was woken by the mayday calls @ 230am this morning...
He knows the crew..
I feel for there family's. ..

Sorry fish Assassin if I'm coming across a little short.. . .hitting a little close to home as I've met alot of these guys who work in this field..and all are great down to earth hard working awesome people..again ..hoping for some closure for all involved

I was just asking a question...WOW

Go ahead and vent all you want. But directing it my way.....OUCH Thanks SpringFever552

I actually thought it was a different boat that went down, the one always transferring fish at Browns Bay Marina. I was thinking that it was alot larger vessel. But after seeing the pictures it is not.

It was a lose of some very young men that had many days ahead of them one would think......Sad day for sure

Didnt like my apology in my last post fa?
Just didnt want this post to go sideways to rant on fish farms...
Do not ever pm me again fa

Guy still missing as of last night..
He has wife and 2 little kids that are waiting hoping dad comes home so he can take them on the trip to Disneyland that was planned for Sunday...makes it even more tragic. If that's possible...

Unless two of the same boats were built I used to work on that girl 20+ years ago when she was the Marine Link 2. She was built by Jenkins here in vic for Marine Link. She Did have packer capabilities with fairly deep holds on the deck. She is sitting pretty low in the water so I'm guessing her holds had something as the deck is pretty empty. Pretty sad story for those two guys and I have many fond memories of delivering logging equipment up and down the coast on that boat :(

With all of the talk about the Simushir vessel this weekend I someone missed out on this terrible story. Just tragic.

Was the ship at anchor when it sank?
