This must-watch committee clip dives into a critical question: Should an Indigenous band's position hold sway over Canadian law enforcement decisions? Conservative MP Aaron Gunn challenges the DFO on the new reality where a lack of support from a First Nation's council can lead to prosecution files being rejected. The discussion also touches on unilaterally declared Indigenous Protected Areas. See the official's surprising admission that he must "take back" and clarify the department’s position on this growing crisis.

We all know DFO management is rotten to the core but this was eye opening, and not surprising. The fact that the DOJ needs the FN have to approve a charge against a band member who is breaking a law in the Fisheries Act is outrageous.
