Sidebar: I actually did this out of Nova Scotia quite a few years back. Of course back then the fish were "released" right into the hold. Incredible amount of power in those fish, and the first I actually HAD to shoot before we could get our mitts on them. Hell of a lot of FUN!


Interesting that now the commercial fishery is headed downhill they turn to a form of "recreational" fishing to keep their boats afloat...

talked with a fellow at a job site here in Courtenay that did this 2yrs ago..
if I remember correctly he paid $1500 for 2days? out on the boat... I thought he said it was a Commercial boat...I could be wrong about the Commercial part?..but do know he went and did it...

Yes, this is what you have to look forward to if we don't crush the current direction DFO is heading. They want nothing more than to have the exact same deal going here in BC. Time to wake up folks. Your sport fishery is toast if we buy into the "experimental" halibut license. Beginning of the end if we bite that hook.
