Terminal gear IMO is too light. I'd put a large split ring/large barrel swivel 220# test up top, ditch the treble & hang 2 assist hooks made with Mustad 8/0 inline hooks, then size the assist cord so that the hook hangs half-way down; should be less prone to snagging. A guy who chartered Ling trips at Swiftsure says to let them bang the bottom, the noise pisses them off.
Assist hooks are expensive to buy but making them is easy; youtube is your friend. Stormtrooper is right-on with what he says.
