Anyone running a Mac's River Runner skeg/prop guard on their skiff?

I've been exploring in a lot shallower waters lately in my 14' Marlon Deep V + 20hp Tohatsu outboard. Prop damage is on the mind. From what I've been reading, Mac's River Runners give you a bit more peace of mind at the expense of your overall top speed. Although, installation/removal looks simple enough that you could always remove it if you had a lake fishing day planned and wanted to re-gain that speed.

Anyone running one on their small boat? Worth it?

I ran those things for 20 years up and down the Thompson, the Skeena, the Bulkley and everywhere in between
They are as good as you can get to protect a prop around rocks
Blinded by the sun and throwing caution to the wind with speed , I plowed gravel in the Skeena one afternoon …. The paint didn’t even come off the prop
I’ll sell you one if you have trouble finding one

I also ran a Yamaha 40 hp pump for several years…
I preferred my prop outboards with the Macs in sketchy water …better grip in the white stuff and more torque when you need it

Good review and cute pup! I found Stryker Boats in Aldergrove still sells them and they're close by to me so I'll be paying them a visit.

Did it effect your top speed much?

I never noticed the speed thing. It’s not too often I’d be at WOT in the water I was running just because of lumpy waves and rocks…. But It’s not that big a piece of equipment… I doubt there’s that much drag and it’s completely clear of the flukes
