hey guys. i have an 89 searay 268 sundancer that i have been upgrading and updating. i have started to paint my wood accents white (some people may hate this, i know) and i want to paint my foreward dash it’s currently a dark blue and was thinking black to mitigate any glare but im worried it might get real hot? attached a photo from a few years back.

Yes it will get hot. I have black upholstery in mine that was great when I lived on the west side of the island as it picked up heat but not so great on the east side on those 30 degree days

My dash is white fiberglass which I cover with black non-skid -- takes out the glare and keeps things from sliding around. Being a porous surface it doesn't heat up too badly.

my other option was to get some of that cheap amazon eva foam (nock off seadek material) and cover the whole dash in that.

Painted mine in non-skid a number of years back. It’s easy to touch up or re-do. There is a range of colours available. It is simple, inexpensive and easily maintained.

I had a small dashboard, 21' boat. when the windshield was off, I painted the dash a flat black spray. helps in low light situations. If the weather is hot, I would remove the windows.
