I only have 5lb in 18" square traps. It's not a weight issue.Maybe a lighter trap can help?? Mine is still going strong after 3 seasons and I’m on a 40amp breaker.
This is what I'm hearing. New ones suckMy ace is eight ten years old not a problem I use to pull 4 traps but switched to two per string and we fish 6 strings. My partner has a newer in 3 years old and had to replace a gear box last year.

Might be able to make that work if I pushed it forward. I hate adding more **** to snag the net on though.I just leave it on the holder, it’s far enough to the front of my deck that it doesn’t get in the way of fishing. Only keep it on the boat for prawning season.
