Anyone find a better trap puller?

I blew up my Ace for the fourth time. They're going to replace the motor and gear box, for the fourth time. I'm tired of this. Anyone know of anything better that isn't on a massive 6' long boom?

Maybe a lighter trap can help?? Mine is still going strong after 3 seasons and I’m on a 40amp breaker.

I only have 5lb in 18" square traps. It's not a weight issue.

someone might be able to talk about long gevity. My ace has never let me down, just I weight my traps a little

My ace is eight ten years old not a problem I use to pull 4 traps but switched to two per string and we fish 6 strings. My partner has a newer in 3 years old and had to replace a gear box last year.

What's wrong with the scotty prawn puller.

Maybe ask around if you can find a used old puller and keep yours as a backup. I see used ones pop up for around $450-500. I’ve heard the Scotty pullers aren’t the greatest in heavy currents.

Can't go back to the scotty after having hands free. Some days we're pulling and re-setting three times x 6 sets.

My prawn stars has a hands free and a foot switch but I need to get it dialed in for the diameter of rope.

Funny I have used my Scotty Puller to retrieve my anchor line after fishing for Big Butts. Good as there is not much clutter using it.

I just leave it on the holder, it’s far enough to the front of my deck that it doesn’t get in the way of fishing. Only keep it on the boat for prawning season.

Might be able to make that work if I pushed it forward. I hate adding more **** to snag the net on though.
