If you move your boat from one region to another - say bc canada to california usa or whatever during the year do you know how the insurance coverage works ? do you get one policy ? or two ? or two policies + a trip insurance policy ? for the same boat.
im moving mine from europe to the carribean next year so i'll need 2 insurance coverages for europe(+biscay rider) and carribean (VI/Grenada) + trip insurance for the atlantic, right ? so 3 different policies ? or 1 policy covers all 3 areas ? or 2 policies+1 time trip insurance ?
anyone done this before ? right now i have a annual regional policy for atlantic europe (-biscay rider) which ends in spain and a annual regional policy for BC+WA (inland BC/USA north of 40 degrees and west coast 20nm+WA). but they are 2 different policies for 2 boats covering multiple countries. i would need multiple policies for 1 boat (i think) next year. so do i just take out 3 month policies or are they pro rated ?

underwriter can add riders to your basic plan.

ok got my new policy done.
  • Deductible doubled for lightning damage
  • Deductible increased to CAD 62,200 in respect of any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from a Named or Numbered windstorm
  • Cover is suspended from the moment yacht departs France and arrives in Carribean coverage area. .
  • Warranted vessel is below 12.07 degrees North during the period 1st June to 30th November whilst West of 50 degrees West. i.e. Grenada.
  • Single policy. didnt need to buy any riders.
  • UK and continental waters River Elbe to La Rochelle and Caribbean waters 9 to
19 degrees North, 58 to 70 degrees West, excluding Venezuela.
  • Separate policy for trip insurance for atlantic crossing. Bought it already and it was 4X the cost of the whole years policy. ouch. YOLOing it.

What's a policy like that cost per year?

no never. i already have a boat which works well for BC.
its going to stay in the carribean and occasionally go back to europe every few years.
maybe do a little florida on the way....or maybe not depending on the path the usa plans to go.
its basically a get out and boat all winter long on white sand beaches and tropical temperatures boat. hence the central aircon setup.
