and no I do not need any bad jokes......;)

I had a wisdom tooth removed last week, a bad extraction that took 1.25 hours to remove.......:(

I have had pain all weekend and up to today. Finally the wife talks me into going to emerg. to see a doc. The doc says I have a dry socket and need to go see the dentist as soon as possible.

Gave me some percocets though......;)

Cheers

I haven't had a dry socket, but I did recently have a tooth pulled.

I got the warnings about dry socket.

Don't suck or create suction in your mouth until fully healed. You want the blood clot to stay in the hole they pulled the tooth from. You can rinse with salt water to keep infection from setting in. Dr. should have given you 2 different antibiotics.

It is serious, though not life threatening, just painful. So take it easy and listen to your doctor/dentist.

I AM NOT A DENTIST, BUT I DO PLAY ONE ON THE INTERWEBS...

Man, can I relate! I feel your pain, even though it's been 10+ yrs. since I had mine.
Took about a week, as I recall, with full spectrem antibiotics before I felt better.

I went through it, then had to go in after hours to get it cleaned out (opened) no freezing either because he didn't have an assistant with him after hours. I even canceled my first appointment because a certain local hockey played told me that Gretzky was in town and they were going to be staying at our neighbors waterfront cabin. Invited me to drop by for a beer and meet him. Turned out not to be Gretz but another local player. Joke was on me and another day of misery lol I got him back good later.

Off topic. Went last week with pain kept getting worse. Tooth was cracked stem to stern no way to save it any price. Fine said pull it.
Said can't infected. Two prescriptions antibiotics and Dilaudid. One pill and one beer woke up on the couch next morning feeling like a king. Thank God for good dentists. ;)
