I'm new to saltwater fishing and looking for some advice. I'm holidaying in the Buckley Bay area with my 3 boys and not having very good luck with the springs around Tribune Bay. Any other locations we should try? Where is some decent cod fishing...or small halibut?...or something to keep the kids amused and the old man sane.

Try fishing the very first tide in the morning as there is so much bait and I mean more bait than I've seen in 10 years the fish feed aggresively and they are full fast! We are fishing in tribune bay in the 75ft arean right off the marker down 66ft and using 4inch coyote spoons in green, green&white, cop car and nasty boy patterns! If nothing there try fishing on a tack from Whaling station bay on the outside of Hornby in 115ft of water and moving south till you hit the marker on Flora Island. Pick up and run back and start again. Fishing with the same tackle down 95-110ft. We have had lot's fish on and in the last 2 weeks and I have personally landed 8 on my boat in 4 trips and lost 4 more not to mention guys I know catching a couple over 30lbs and a bunch of big ones being lost to seals. Don't worry about the afternoons and evenings. Be out first light and fish the two morning tides! Good Luck!!
