Another tilt trim problem

Tilt trim won,t stay up on a 1999 merc 9.9 4 stroke kicker.
I set the button to 3 pull the motor all the way up but it drops back all the way down. Never needed to trim it up before but have added a prop guard that drags on a plane when using my main motor.
Any suggestions.

Most trim motors have a mechanical hydralic pressure release, maybe yours has losened up. Look for a regular slotted screw around trim motor and turn in (right hand thread) to tighten.
