Hey guys.

We live in French Creek and I'm not even sure which salmon spawn in it!

Just wondering if now that the pinks are gone, and we completely skunked out..Are there any other opportunities to catch other species off the beaches around here during the fall?? We've been hitting Nile Creek, Departure bay a lot.
Looking for advice on what to try for next!

Thanks :D

Yes-- French Creek has an augmented coho run... the Parksville-Qualicum Fish and Game guys and gals run a small hatchery. But Nile Creek beach is your best bet as the Big Q , as well as the Nile Creek coho stage along that beach. Just keep at it and you have a good chance of bumping into a coho or two.

Thanks Cuba!

Are they starting to show up now, or do they come later?

And what do Coho like, gear wise??

They are still at Swy-A-Lana in Nanaimo.
Was in the mouth of the river with the girls in the canoe this a.m. and several darn near jumped in the canoe!
Smiley.

There are coho along the beach now... but I have been told they have lockjaw until more rain stirs them up ?? Anybody else got current info?

As far as gear. if you are flyfising, go with a floating line and a 8-9 ft leader. Flies vary-- but smalle4r seems to work best. Alternate between a slow creep and a fast strip.

As far a gear-- small buzzbombs or ZZingers, blue, white of polar seems to work. If the fish are too shallow, try a small crok . Like most beach fishing, there is usually a distinct bite.. and then it goes quiet. Put the time in .............;)
