Alright, I'm a lurker

Hello all, my name is Ryan and I am a lurker. I have shamelessly been reading posts on this forum for about 2 years. I have not contributed anything at all. I am ashamed.

I have to say though, this forum has been a wealth of information for me, as this is my first season seriously fishing for myself. I started fishing at about 5 yrs old with my father in Port Alice/ Rupert Arm, but since I was about 7, we moved away from there to the Sunshine Coast, where I didn't fish at all. ( stupid, I know) So this is the first year after about a 25 year hiatus that I have actually fished. I now have my own boat and it actually runs reliably.

I want to thank all the members that have posted in the various 'downrigger braid setup' threads, as well as the guys that had input on different ways to tie up hootchies. You know who you are. I am in Campbell River, and learning the best ways to fish that area, both north and south, and I welcome any and all input, and am going to start sharing any information I can give, on those threads that I feel that I have information to add.

Hey Ryan.....

welcome to the site.......

It's not a crime to be a lurker........

Hope you get lots of fish..........

Hi Ryan..admitting you have a problem is the first step.lol Only 11 more steps and recovery is yours...

I live 600km from the chuck so the valuable info I can get from the the salties is very appreciated.

Thank You Salties.

Thanks for posting. I have learned a lot from the posts of others. The lurker thread I started was a bad attempt to encourage people to join and post to enrich the forum.

You wouldn't happen to be a Hawks fan, would you ?

Not a Hawks fan, sorry. In my opinion, BU, your thread was a good attempt. If everyone who is reading and learning from these posts would contribute when they can, the knowledge base of everyone on here would grow, which I think is the whole point of a 'forum'.

Good on you RCA!
I too got a huge amount of information, help and guidance plus some encouragement from the good members of this forum when I bought my first boat for the chuck three years ago. (I was asked by Forum Admin to write about by learnig experiences and the role of the forum in that and they kindly put my story up here http://www.sportfishingbc.com/fishtales.html#6 )

If I am ever in a position to give anything back in the way of fishing tips, I will.
Meanwhile I do my bit rebutting the arguments of the pro fish feed lot proponents in the Conservation threads where I have been known to put up some long posts!! LOL:o
