Alouette Lake

Hello, I recently moved to the Ridge Meadows area, and started fishing Alouette.

I target the Kokanee and I am usually successful. I have pulled up 4 trophy fish, that went back to the drink.

I have a theoretical question:

I ‘Theoretically’ pulled up a 61CM trout at Alouette.

The rules quote:
“ REGION 2 - LOWER MAINLAND
Region-wide prohibition on the retention of char (bull trout, Dolly Varden, or lake trout) under 60 cm, with the exception of Chilliwack, Pitt, Chehalis, Lillooet, Harrison and Cultus Lakes where 1 bull trout over 60 cm can be retained.

(Page 21)
Trout/char: 4, but not more than
• 1 over 50 cm (2 hatchery steelhead over
50 cm allowed)
• 2 from streams (must be hatchery)
• 1 char (bull trout, Dolly Varden, or lake
trout), none under 60 cm
And you must release:
• Wild trout/char from streams
• All wild steelhead
• Hatchery trout/char under 30 cm from
streams

(Page 22)
ALOUETTE LAKE
2-8
Bull trout (char) release
No vessels in swimming areas, as buoyed and signed; speed restriction (8 km/h) at south end of lake, south of a line drawn from the BC Parks boat ramp to signs on the east side of the lake”

Is my hypothetical 61 CM trout a release?

And or aside from Kokanee is there any other retention at Alouette.

The photo are my releases of the season while targeting Koke’s

Any feedback/guidance or clarification on the regs is much appreciated.

If its a bull.....or a Dolly...its a char. Then it's a release- IN ALOUETTE LAKE. The lake has a specific regulation. If you are quoting the regs directly and accurately.

Gawd man, if you’re going to handle the fish that way, y

If you gonna handle the fish that way, you may as well keep them.

All the Bull trout (or "Dolly Varden" which are not in that lake) have to be released. That is a reg specific to Alouette Lake. Clearly you caught this fish (#2) so it is not hypothetical... did you release it?

Cutthroat pictured in photo #1 and 4 can be retained. Both those fish look like they are dead.

To me the 'char' in picture 3 looks like a lake trout. These were stocked in the lake over 50 years ago. Some were caught in following years but there is an argument if any remain.
