Brisco,

I don't think this forum should be a venue for "mud-slinging" (especially not without firm evidence) but if you really want to talk to the guy, I can email you his website. Maybe you'll find out it wasn't him. At least I hope it wasn't! Guides should lead by example![8D]

Cheers man...

Fishin Magician, Thats him,do you know him? And if so does he have a history of poor boatmanship?

I'm rather surprised it would be him. I was able to pinpoint who it was as there's only 3 or 4 like that in the Vancouver area...and that one guy does fish the most.

He knows better. That boat has had different skippers from time to time...oh well. If it happens again, I'd call his office and tell him just what he did.

It ain't mud slinging if you saw it happen and/or it happened to you!

BTW, professionals have a responsibility to conduct themselves professionally, and no one will be immune to free speech and being held accountable by the public at large.

Oppi, Thanks for your thoughts and I too hope it was not a guide. We all make mistakes on the water.

Hey... My Trophy is a yr 2000 model and it still says "Bayliner" on it!:) I think it may have been the last year the called it "Bayliner Trophy"!? Since then, there's been an attempt at erasing Bayliner's association with Trophy! For what reason? ..I don't know? [?]

The truth is... BOTH Bayliner Boats and Trophy Sportfishing are owned by the Brunswick Family Boat Company! All Trophy Sportfishing boats, along with Bayliner’s outboard boats and runabouts ranging from 18 to 22 feet, are built in Cumberland, Maryland... in the SAME FACILITY! So, in spite of what the Brunswick Family is trying to do with their "image", there is little to be gained by claiming that Bayliner is different from Trophy! Sorry pals...

Oppi

Brunswick makes more than just Bayliner and Trophy. That doesn't mean they all produce the same product. It doesn't matter if they are made in the same facility or the same room or using the same equipment. I guarantee that the engineers working on trophy are different than the engineers working on Bayliners (cruisers, runabouts). The end goal and objective is different for fishing vessels. I would be appalled if Trophy used the same mold, hull thickness, dimensions, and/or material properties as a cruiser. I want a fisherman to build a fishing boat, not some pencil pusher that likes to go for a cruise on the lake a couple times a year. Get my drift? Look at Boeing for example: a B-52 is not built the same as a 727 is it? No. The load paths and purposes are different. If you want a better example, look at the 737 and P-8A. The P-8A is a 737 body and wings that have been modified to be an anti-sub aircraft.

I think Trophy has come a long way with the process they use to build their boats, the concepts they put on the table, and the name they are trying to display. Will it beat a Grady, Whaler, North River, Campion? No, but its not supposed to.

After writing this response, I realize that I am completely off topic...so sorry for that Brisco. I see all sorts of idiots down here in Seattle...too many. Maybe I can send you some!

I agree with "the magician" that noone should be immune to accountability! That goes without saying! But personal accusations should require FIRM EVIDENCE, and I don't think this public forum - being a site for sharing advise and opinions between friends and OPEN TO EVERYONE TO READ - should be a venue for such a thing. [V]

It would be too easy to personally accuse without PROOF and it could get ugly real quick! Most of us has personal emails attached to our "profile" and if we need help from each other to GATHER evidence (it could be real serious - like property damage or theft for example)then the personal email route is probably better than posting such things on a public forum.

.. just my humble opinion

Hey Cornfed,
I too jumped on what was an obvious sidetrack! Sorry! [:I]

Oppi, I was careful not to mention the boat name because of what you just mentioned. But we do need to teach some people manners in the water. People are not allways aware of their actions, like trolling the Cap with no downriggers and letting their lines 500 feet back!

Brisco,

I agree with you! [^] Posting opinions and sharing advise about fishing ethics is and should be part of this forum! People who are not aware need to know - and sometimes they need to know the hard way! :( I can count a number of issues that I've learnt myself from this forum. There was one about DFO packing and travelling regulations only last week that was a bit embarrasing for me [:I]) but for which I'm grateful. Also... in that context... if a registered member want to stick his neck in an on-line argument (claiming that it's "nobody's business how long the lines are behind his boat" for example), then that member should also be prepared to get SLAMMED if other people don't agree! That's the way it should be! It doesn't always have to be "friendly" and I don't see anything wrong with that.

See ya on the water pal... :D

Oppi

Ps: You already know my boat from what I've written in this thread. If I add to that that I've got a "Green Canvas Top" then you shouldn't have any problems spotting me out there. If so, call "Oppi" on ch. 88 if you wanna touch base and share the day's fishing info.
