Hey... My Trophy is a yr 2000 model and it still says "Bayliner" on it!:) I think it may have been the last year the called it "Bayliner Trophy"!? Since then, there's been an attempt at erasing Bayliner's association with Trophy! For what reason? ..I don't know? [?]

The truth is... BOTH Bayliner Boats and Trophy Sportfishing are owned by the Brunswick Family Boat Company! All Trophy Sportfishing boats, along with Bayliner’s outboard boats and runabouts ranging from 18 to 22 feet, are built in Cumberland, Maryland... in the SAME FACILITY! So, in spite of what the Brunswick Family is trying to do with their "image", there is little to be gained by claiming that Bayliner is different from Trophy! Sorry pals...

I have a 89 bayliner made by brunswick corp, the same as todays trophy models made by brunswick corp. Just like any boat thru the years, they made hull improvements. I know my boat aint built like a Grady but then I don't venture out where you need a Grady.

.. and - salmonkiller... you probably spent less than half of what an equivalent Grady would have cost!:) To each his own...

The old joke used to be. What does having aids and having a bayliner have in common?

Once you have it you cannot get rid of it.

....and before all you Bayliner guys jump down my throat about owning one. I must confess I wanted to buy the 23ft Trophy a few years back but could not afford it. It is a joke. Nothing more.

There's nothing wrong with the hull of the new Trophy's! I think they finally got a decent mould. I have a Trophy 2052 - 20 feet with a 190 hp 4.3 litre in/out Merc. I can confidently venture out on La Perouse Bank in a decent weather forecast (I would not go out there during a Small Craft of Gale warning in ANY sport fishing boat - Grady or otherwise. I do 35 knots top speed (that's 40 mph for those you who don't know nautical miles) and 25 knots (28 mph) cruising at 3800 rpm's, consuming about 7 US gallons (26 lit.) per hour. I'm not a boat expert, but when I compare that with my marina neighbour - who has two 90 hp Honda 4-stroke outboards on roughly the same size boat, who cannot match my Trophy in either top or cruising speed, but who rarley consumes less than 12 gallons/hour - then I think I can claim my boat's performance is fairly decent!

What bugs me with Trophy, (and I'm saying this having never owned a Grady) is that after 8 years of use, I have had what I think is "A LOT" of odds and ends that needs "fixing" every year - it drives me crazy - broken handles, mouldings, buttons, swim platform, etc.. etc.. I hope you Grady owners get more bang for your buck with all the fine fittings and accessories!
