Dr on the island news said 15 cases in the ICU not one of them is vaccinated.
Alberta - 84% of hospitalizations unvaxxed or 1 dose
96% in ICU unvaxxed or one dose. (Disclaimer, I may be off by 1-2%)
I honestly can’t fathom why people are dead set against the vaccines. It was a no-brainer for me even though I’ve got a good immune system.
Pretty sure this guy was in better shape than 95% of all humans, he spent 47days intubated in a hospital, 18 in a medically induced coma.

My anti vax friend says it's an unproven gene therapy, not properly approved, etc etc. Meanwhile he sends me stuff about purported treatments like invermectin and so on. 5 billion doses of vaccines administered worldwide, vast reams of data available to analyze. Over on the "treatments" side... not so much.
Anyway we are still mates and agree to disagree. As I tell him, "I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!"

yep, and the states is 95-98% unvaxxinated in hospital. This is higher because of a much larger pool of people not vaccinated. The anti-vaxxers will point out Israel, but what they don't factor in is how few (over 50 years old) are still unvaxxed. If you actually look at the sample size though, the rate of hospitalization for unvaxxinated is 9x that of the vaxxinated. On the radio this morning they said the lower mainland has close to a 90% vaccine rate expect for chilliwack whos rate is 60%.
I stopped in Chilliwack a couple of weeks ago. Get the sense that covid is not a thing there. Was wearing a mask out of common courtesy at the few places I stopped. Very few people in either place were masked (I get it is not required, but I have been used to wearing it in the business where they have asked/suggested). Most people in Victoria had been still wearing masks into stores etc.

I believe that at this point if your not vaccinated and you get Covid you should take responsibility for your own hospital bills. Have Covid and heading to the hospital please leave your credit card with the nurse at the front door......
On the other had the Passport thing seems to be working as intended, Haven't seen the lines at the vaccination drive through in Langley that long in a long time....

Great idea, let’s do it for everything self induced though. Car accidents, obesity,self induced diabetes, cancers related to smoking and drinking etc. Probably save a lot of us a ton of money in taxes with the huge baby boomer population getting older. Might also get a few people back to work and off crb.
Going to put a stop to this conversation about who should receive treatment and who shouldn't. At this point, Canada has a universal health care policy and it will only change if the system is completely overhauled. That isn't likely to happen anytime soon so we are not going to waste time moderating any such debate.

Well...one probable upside to the loss of efficacy over such a short time is that it suggests the mRNA breakdown pathways in your cells are reliably eliminating the proteins the vaccine tells your cells to manufacture.
So at least the people like me who questioned whether the off switch engineered into the replication system was sufficiently robust probably have a good answer there: yeah, that stuff breaks down pretty fast, actually.
To me that pretty strongly implies that most of the worst case scenario long term side effects that some people speculated about are really unlikely. I think they were always unlikely, but I would interpret this as pretty concrete evidence that the idea of malformed proteins accumulating in your tissues, or runaway replication generating some weird autoimmune disorder, are basically impossible. Your body gets rid of this stuff almost too fast, not the other way around.
So it sucks...but in a sense, there's something good about it.

It's probably a big line because I drove by the south Surrey drive-in vacinnation place yesterday and it looked like they were tearing it down. So the lines only bigger because there's less options.

I have got one shot. I had a big explanation typed but the long and short is I’m not high risk, I’m not obese , I work alone a large majority of the day , I live on acreage out of town and keep to myself for the most part. I don’t like the way the government is handcuffing people into this. My wife is a nurse and pregnant. She worked part time through this while most people hid. So she will be fired for not getting this shot. Today we went to get her second shot. She asks the nurse if she should be concerned , being pregnant and all. The nurse word for word says “ they haven’t done any studies on pregnant woman but there have been no issues “. Now I don’t think that’s true, and I don’t feel comfortable having my unborn kid be a guinea pig but we essentially have no choice or she will lose her license to work. This is not a nice position to put someone in , especially in Canada and especially after working through the last 18 months and risking our other kids when she comes home daily. I hate anything woke which is the direction Trudeau has taken this country so I push back when I see it.

You nailed it. I am double dosed with the Phizer just got my second dose last week. But that was my choice and that’s what the few of us are trying to push home here. We did at one time live in a somewhat free country, where did that go. Many on here don’t respect freedom nor do they want it that’s obvious. They can’t get our country pushed into full blown socialism fast enough but that doesn’t fly with all of us.
And again we are not getting fed the full truth on all this that we know. I am going to share a personal experience here.
2 weeks ago we had the virus hit us at work. We had 9 out of 22 people get infected with the Delta variant, as we found out later. But the boys didn’t show signs until they were darn near home on days off so by the time we got a handle on it, we had 9 infected. We didn’t shut down we kept operating we just put in some extra protocols. We are talking about young healthy men hear all in the early 50’s to early 20’s. My son being on of them. None of these men were vaccinated. None of those men experienced anything worse than a bad cold, some like my son was not even close to bed ridden for more than 1 day. He said he’s had worse hang overs. But what did hit us all on the strange side and what keeps us on the weary side is Alberta Health’s reaction to it. 5 out of the 9 are Alberta boys the others from BC. The Alberta boys were hounded every day by Alberta Health to turn themselves into the hospital. They would not accept they were not sick enough. One of the fellows had to litterly lose it on them and demand they quit hounding him. He was not sick he did not want to go into the hospital. So when I experience things like this how can we fully trust the info we are being fed. How many people that are in the hospital right now over this even have to be there or are they there because they were told to be. Drive the numbers up to drive home a mandate.
I tell you they make it tough to trust anything that’s comes out of their lying cake holes.
And that kids is a true story.

I believe there is one study on pregnant women but it only really covers the third trimester - I was talking about this with a friend of mine who studies this stuff just the other day and he had the study handy.
There were first and second trimester pregnancies in the test group but the study was published before they gave birth... which personally I found a bit annoying, but whether it's a problem or not I don't know.
The women vaccinated in the third trimester had no worse rates of anything than normal and there wasn't anything specific to indicate anyone else would have issues but the study's authors did say that more research would be needed to draw really hard conclusions.
Anyway I don't know if that makes you feel any better, but the one study on third trimester women did look good. I don't at all blame you for being nervous in that situation, though, I think anyone who wasn't apprehensive in your shoes would be nuts.

She got the first shot around the time she got pregnant and the second at 22 weeks . I’m not saying the vaccines are bad, but in some cases we don’t know yet. Trudeau doing this new mandate doesn’t give enough time to find out.
