All Things COVID-19

I still recall an interesting conversation I had early in my career. A lawyer was chatting and he was like " I think I am getting to just enough knowledge of this topic to get myself into serious trouble."

Do your own research always as it is good to be knowledgeable. However, I think it's very important to know when you are out of your expertise and let professionals have some input. The biggest mistakes I have seen at work are when people practice out of their specialty without consultation.

Haha excellent point. I’ve had plenty of girlfriends in my life but I don’t consider myself a gynaecologist.

Good news on the island today. The active cases dropped substantially over the weekend down to 150. Central island still makes up a majority of that.

Hopefully with having the snowy long weekend, people hibernated more and the numbers continue to drop moving forward.

I was born and raised in Australia and travel back regularly to visit parents, brothers and friends. I can tell you Australia has a quarantine mentality that goes back four or five generations. We were all taught that invasive species and imported diseases have caused incalculable damage to the environment, plants and animals, and indigenous people. Rabbits caused the loss of a third of the continent's topsoil, foxes kill billions of native animals and birds. Introduced plants like blackberries, prickly pear and Lantana have cost agriculturists billions, as have exotic insect pests like cane beetle, leaf rollers and phyloxera. Quarantine procedures for animals and plants coming in have been normal for a century.

Weeks before the pandemic was declared, Australia closed its doors to Chinese nationals (and was criticized and called racist). Full border closures were enacted swiftly and completely - mandatory 14 day quarantine in government supervised hotels has been in place since late March 2020. Australians have to ask for permission to leave the country and must satisfy the govt that their proposed trip is truly essential before that permission is granted. The policy has been to hit hard and fast when outbreaks occur, lockdowns are in force within hours of announcement.

There have been some protests, but Australians have for the most part supported the measures because they've been made aware since childhood how vulnerable their isolated island is to biological threats coming in.

I've traveled in NZ but never lived there, but their circumstances and history are similar in this aspect. Island nation much damaged through history by exotic species. They take quarantine seriously.

Australia, New Zealand. Same same.

This is not a mystery as the article incorrectly states:

While the World is on a vaccine frenzy, the Indian Government is distributing a home Covid Kit with Zinc, Doxycycline and Ivermectin. The cost $2.65 per person.

Though the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommends no treatment for those suffering from SARS-COV-2 “unless the patient is hospitalized and requires oxygen,” in India, they began treating coronavirus patients early, including the use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ).

Dr. Makarand Paranjpe and his wife, both 77 year-old Indian physicians, fully recovered from the COVID-19 virus using early treatment last November, TrialSiteNews (TSN) reports. She used hydroxychloroquine, and he took ivermectin.

“Without any treatment, we know that the virus enters the cells and replicates there,” Paranjpe said. “They can create disease that gets much more severe.” Stopping such replication as early as possible is the simple function of these inexpensive and safe treatments.

Last March, as debates raged in the U.S. over the merits of HCQ, following President Trump’s endorsement of the drug, India had already recommended it in its national guidelines affirming it “should be used as early in the disease course as possible…and should be avoided in patients with severe disease.”

Following the June discovery of ivermectin’s efficacy in treating the virus, along with significant subsequent testing, the largest state in their nation, Uttar Pradesh (UP) (pop. 230 million), announced in August that it was replacing their HCQ protocol with ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

This is what the entire world should be doing.

In Africa the have a drug they call Sunday medicine. It is taken every Sunday. It is Chloroquine the medicine for malaria same as HCQ. They have very few cases in a country with poor health care.

unfortunately this has been proven a myth. More than once. I read an article that shows there may be some slight positive effect but the percentages are too low to say it was the HQC or if it was a placebo effect. Here’s a link to the WHO article directly contradicting your assumption.

combined with other home remedies, such as a lightbulb in the rectum or a couple shooters of bleach it may have some benefits but I’m not willing to risk it lol.

You are sadly mistaken or misinformed.
I would suggest you do additional research other than WHO. It is proven very effective if given in the first 3 days after onset. It is the vehicle that helps zinc enter the cells and inhibit virus replication. Zinc is the answer and HCQ is the vehicle. How about ivermectin? Has WHO discarded it as well in deference to big pharma?
The big question I have after watching my friend die in Dec from Covid is why did they not treat him at all. There are proven repurposed drugs that show positive results. Why not give them to those with Covid rather than watch them die with no treatment at all.

Not sadly mistaken, and clearly more informed than some. If your assumptions is correct why would the entire world be waiting on a vaccine in short supply when all we have to do is take HQC? Some world wide conspiracy theory? What exactly is the reason?

my coworker just got back from india, Had to get tested when he arrived in india, had to do a 14 day quarantine in india. Basically all the tourist places were closed and he barely left his family residence while there.

Astra Zeneca approval is forthcoming shortly, orders were placed and deliveries have been promised by the end of March.

Don't get sucked in by the Chicken Littles.

yes but its been approved in the UK for awhile now. Mid february was the timeline given for its approval in canada. I guess it takes time to add all the french to the labels. Its important to get it approved as its very easy to produce. Countries like australia, mexico, US and many others will all be producing it.

It's also important that the approval process is thorough and if it isn't available to us yet, that isn't a problem. Orders are placed and deliveries are confirmed. The Brits rushed approval because it was homegrown, they had supplies available because they make it and they have a considerably more serious problem on their hands than we do.

Chicken Littles will be some pissed if it turns out approval was premature; mind you, Chicken Littles are gonna be pissed no matter what happens.
