I know this is a fishing site but I know there are a few hunters on here. Just thought I would tease some of you boys a bit.. Been watching this one grow here on my land for the last 3 years I have let him walk a few times as I was waiting for him to get some mass. If I get the chance this year he will go down. Our bow season starts in a few days so we are getting pumped here. I have 70 acres of my own land out here that I strictly bow hunt and exclusive permission to an adjoining 160 acres that the neighbour lets me manage the deer on as well. I live in the middle of cow calf operations so no lack of animals out here..

Have a look boys couple trail cam pics from the last 3 days.

Nice headgear but the animal judging by the neck seems a little on the small side. Is this normal for your area? Ive never hunted alberta but have seen pictures of some very impressive bucks from various areas. If you are only hunting on a few hundred acres this might be the biggest of the heard? Just a curious BC hunter.

Cheers.

Just the time of year KK. Come November his neck will be about twice the size and they will put on extra pounds for the rut and with their heavier winter coat they will look a lot bigger. Very big whitetail in this area,, they don't make them any bigger.. But make no mistake he is packin some head gear that makes him look small, this is a big deer well into the 170's maybe pushing the 80's hard to tell until he is out of velvet to get a good read on them.

But good observation..

On a side note,, this is just my private grounds,, I hunt numerous other lease quarters and north of me is pretty much all crown land all the way to the arctic circle lol.. I live in the middle of some of the top producing whitetail country in the province. No shortage of trophy animals in the area.

Many Hunters would be thrilled to get within range of that buck and to be able to walk out you own door and go hunting on your own land with a bow is awesome. Guess that makes up for having to drag your boat all the way to Sooke for the salmon.

Sounds likes your property and that around you is well managed to keep producing healthy deer populations and deer like that one. Good hunting, I hope you do well this year ( I am sure you do) and get to feed your family some very tasty, low fat, low cholesterol, not gas packaged, red dye, artificial hormone and drug/antibiotic free protein.

Where about's are you Walleyes. I've got good friends in Fox Creek that have some big stuff that moves though that area.

Amen to that brother,, in the end that's what it's all about really some good wholesome meat. Same as the fish, moose, the big garden that the wife won't allow any genetically modified seeds into. The chickens we buy from the farmer down the road, the beef and pork I buy from the neighbour.

The ground can still provide good wholesome food for us,, we just have to let it.

I am over in the eastern part of the province, Cold Lake. What is nice about over here is I am only 1/2hr from the Sask border as well. Really unlimited areas to hunt.
