was out this morning and was into 7 fish by 8 Am keeping a 14, 18 and 25. one of the fish straightened the hook on my FP special- ya RVP they sure do work, we hit 2 fish on that setup, unfortunately we lost both<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>. the rest were on mp 15 in the sockeye size on 30 or 40 inch leaders plus a bigger one same colour made by radiant with a glow stripe and some mylar in it(don't remember the colour but its dynamite of the big Q for my friend) red silver green gold jellyfish and red gold were the hot flashers today. saw a ton of fish caught but nothing that looked bigger then my 25. is it just me or do the fish seem to be averaging a lot smaller this year?

The derby will be taken with a fish below 35 by the sounds of it. When these fish went through the charlottes earlier in the season the avg. was 22 to 25 lb. Just one of those years I guess. It seemed like most of the fish were 4 yr olds. on the north coast. Nothing wrong with that though, a fresh open ocean 25 lb. fish had no problems taking 100 yd. runs.-cheers-dirty

ya i definately have no complaints about the fights of these fish. when i was at poetts noook last week (fishing was awesome we got 12 springs in 2 afternoons) i had one spring about 22 pounds that jumped 10 times before throwing the hook on the last jump. never had one jump like that on me.

Was also at the Nook last week ...one afternoon we had 11 fish on got 8 to the boat .but nothing bigger than about 23 lbs ... we released all of them as we were looking for a 30 + fish ..we where there all week and the biggest that i saw come in was about 39lbs and that came in from offshore i believe ..what an incredable week of fishing and all within 10 minutes of the nook..
already booked my trip for next year ....chovies,purplehaze,and 4" crome apexes were on fire for us GL in the derby guys ...but I hope my dad wins he is still over there !!!!!

bigger than 35! they were getting fish in the 40s everyday last week at china. we saw 2 46 pounders come in. all from pill.

well good luck to all of u fishing the derby....its going to be an awesome derby with a huge turn out....obvously the best derby of the year(hosted in the true salmon capital of the world)

And leave at least two for me. Will be out there monday with my two youngest and a resort owner from C/R. Will be fishing out of a blue Lund with the killer whales on the bow, so say Hi.

Derby update leaders 44lbs, 41 lbs ,38 lbs ,all quite clean slabs ,fishing slower today we landed 3 on chovies and lost one ~~~all 20 lbs and down all within the first 1.5 hrs in the am~~~ then wind came up "UGLY" ~~~Maybe night biter is waitin SEE you out there and good luck
