Why the heck do they keep doing this the week of the derby?:( Even 3 or 4 days earlier would allow the fish that they are removing from the area to be replaced by incoming fish. Or better yet, why not open on the Tuesday following the derby? I don't think that 1 week earlier or later is going to make that much differance to the quality of the fish.

I guess I'll be praying for some rain during that week to get the fish moving, sheesh!!

Seafood, eat it, then catch more.

I was just over there and fished monday and tues of this week..for a total of 11 hours fishing.. I saw ONE fish hooked up and landed..that is IT!
Pretty sad from the previous 4 years that I have been over there at this time of year..We can only hope for some fish and the seine opening is not going to do us any good either!

Wow Islandgirl that is not good. Knowing your history of success in the Inlet, it could only mean they are just not there yet. I've been invited to fish on the weekend, just hoping things pick up before then. Thanks for the update and keep us informed if things get better for you. eman

so im back, tail between my legs. Only had one hit today off the mactush wall. I did see a few fish landed right in front of me.It wasnt till the mid morn that i realized how good the fishing was. i arrived at china creek to see everyone but me cleaning fish. i decidedd to see whats up and it appears that white hootchies or coyete spoons seem to be the coomon theme.these fish are definately shallow, between 15 and 45 feet. im off to vancouver today so i wont be on the water on monday till fri. see you guys then'

Went and visited the brother in law at China Creek today, wanted to get a look at his boat.Talked to quite a few people sloooow, best one was 38 by one of his buddies yesterday, the creel survey girl said she had counted 10 today but had got out there a little late this morning.I saw 4 in the low 20s at the cleaning table. Most everyone was saying it was hit or miss.Dan

My Dad fished Alberni this morning with his buddy. I haven't missed a trip with him for three years; however, today I had to work. They started fishing this morning at around 6:45 and hooked into a 42.70 lb spring at 7:00 along the China Creek Wall. He said there were a few other hook ups, but there weren't many fish caught.
