Alaskna Commrecial Fisherman have record catch for Chinook this winter!

Big big runs forecast for Columbia, and other US rivers. DFO was saying this will be an EPIC year on coast. Gear up, here they come!

Well...earlier on the forecast for this year was "Epic", "Best In Decades" etc etc.etc.

There was a good burst of activity in April allright.......pretty good fishing for many.....

But since then in my humble opinion it is nowhere near "Epic"......in fact I would say that I did much better last year than this so far.....

Seems the hotspots so far are all where, earlier there was a good herring spawn. (I'm referring to Georgia Strait).

It was supposed to be a good herring year too........although I haven't seen much where I live and fish.

Oh well...it's still early yet.......only time will tell.......

Early season Georgia straight isn't really the best indicator of coastal runs. The article clearly states the last week of April is where a big push of fish came through. That likely hasn't even started to arrive down here on the south coast. Also the big run that's been highlighted is Columbia fish which the majority of will run around the outside.

Discounting all the "ra ra" about coming American runs which aren't here yet:-.........there were/are a few hotspots around here...like Thrasher, Tribune Bay and North Texada.......

Everywhere else is so-so right-place-at-right-time kind of fishing...... many fish are in the legal to mid-teen size.........last year I think there were more reports of fish over 20lbs plus than this year.

Like I said....just have to see how it goes......
