I am really surprised to see no criminal charges are expected. Sure it is an accident but aren't people with fire arms held to a higher standard than somebody with say bear spray? I cannot believe you can discharge a gun at a sound you heard in the dark, hit the person sleeping next to you and the police just say ah well it was an accident. Even if the friend does not want to press charges there needs to be more action taken to make an example of this idiot.
Sure it was an accident but it is still grosse negligence with a fire arm. If you can get driving without due consideration isn't there something, anything they can slap this guy with? A lifetime firearms ban is somewhere to start... giving him the medical bills for his friend would be a good diea too it shouldn't be up to MSP to cover that.
