Abel Reels

I have. Excellent product.

Was eyeballing them at Pacific Angler in Vancouver this afternoon. They have stock of Blue and Black and they look slick!! I like the large metal handles and sleek look!

The MR3 looks like a Camaro....and the Abels look like a Corvette.

Retrieve ratio and line capacity are very comparable...drag system is phenomenal as well with easy adjustability with notches.

Call Pacific Angler at 604 872 2204 and speak to Jason Tonelli if you want to buy/order.

I am hoping Santas Sleigh stops by my Christmas Tree and drops a couple off.

Haven't had the pleasure of trying one out yet,but am certainly interested! If you go to their site online, you can order
up a catalog, and they'll ship it to you for free. Shows you the different types of paint jobs you can get (verrry pricey!!! )
Some of them are literally works of art.

i have 4 of them in various sizes from when Steve Abel was still the owner in charge. they have received heavy saltwater use on some trophy big game water fish; tarpon, bills, wahoo, roosters...... taking them apart reveals the genius of Abel. working parts are minimal and that is why they are so great and work so well. oil the cork with neats foot oil and you are good to go. the first time a trophy peels off a 105' fly line and 300 yards of backing under 3#s of measure drag on the hookup, you will be totally impressed with their smooth no hiccup operation. using them around here is overkill in my opinion as these sorts of trophy fish simply don't exist in our backyards. for my day to day fishing in the PNW, I use all composition reels that are left out in the rod rack on the boat exposed to whatever weather comes our way. they work well enough on the size and type of fish we have around here. if you are into collecting reels or plan on pursuing big game fish, by all means consider the Abel as a solid choice.

Reefast, Abel has built a knucklebuster specifically for salmon. Looked at them yesterday, beautifully crafted.

didn't know that. they are still beautifully made reels and as I said, super simple insides which is a testament to good engineering.

I have Abel's, and as I mentioned in another thread on Mooching Reels a while back, they are by far the best. I have tried most of the other models over the years and changed to all Abel's this season. So after a season of running Abel's Moochers I can officially say they are superior to any other Mooching reel out there in pretty much every measureable category. I got my Blue III's for $650.00 each, only a bit more than Islanders, and Abel's have a life time warranty. In my opinion and experience they are worth the extra money.

ya thats just absurd.. don't get me wrong they look like very fine pieces of work but come on man 900$ **** the hull im running was only 1000 $ :p

Nice.. i am considering the 5 weight trout fly reel, 275$ the quality of these is out standing no doubt, and yes those mooching reels look outstanding, the islander linecreep needs to be taking care of for sure.. when i used them on a charter it was the first thing i noticed..

..........or untill you step in on the corner of your buddies freshly painted boat and chip the hell out of the paint........
