2026 Nanaimo Reports

Never fished there by land, but the east point of Gabriola looking toward Entrance Is. might be interesting...
Orlebar point. Never fished from shore, but close enough to cast to shore. It can be productive jigging, fish do come in close to shore and often finning along the surface in the summer.

Fished Thrasher for an hour and a bit this afternoon as we were out checking on the cabin anyway. Water was beauty, 2 other boats, one boat left as we arrived and one left right before us. Only one small spring, couldn't see much bait but what we did see was down deep. Other boats had a pair of undersize when they pulled their gear and called it quits. Was good to run the boat and pour some gas through the engines as it had been a while.

Crickets here, anyone been out? Hoping to get out this weekend, not sure we'll get to Thrasher because of wind but maybe inside Polier and definitely try for prawns.

I put in 11 hours on an overnighter Feb 3/4, thrasher entrance and Porlier. One measly keeper. Definitely a lot slower.

Got out today in the boat for the first time this year.

Started at Entrance at 7:30am and caught two undersized within the first five minutes, then nothing for four hours. Didn’t see a fish caught amongst the five other boats there.

Moved over and ran a tack from Snake Island to Neck Point. Got a whack load of undersized nooks and coho, and picked up a 78cm as our one keeper.
