2026 Campbell River Reports

c'mon guys I see you all out there working the south end of the hump these last couple of glassy calm weeks ;) "salmon capital of the world" thread can't be at the bottom of the standings like the Vancouver Canucks lol tell us how you're doing...

yah the estuary of the Campbell can be pretty productive. they are feeding on pink fry. very small, sparse streamer patterns.
any tips on time of year and tide timing? We are over on Quadra, easy to whip over. There are some potential spots on the west side of Quadra as well.

Can someone message me the location of Butlers Point? Keep hearing about it, but it is not on any modern charts, so perhaps a local name.

Also, I am looking for an old companion book that was part of a how to fish in Campbell River, put on in the 80's I think, if anyone has any leads!

We now call it Francisco Point - south east tip of Quadra Island and it’s on charts as such.
When I first arrived here - which was a few years ago now- we called it Butlers Point.
As for the book really can’t help you- there was a book published by one Peter Johnson called the Happy Hooker
many years which did feature the local hot spots.

Fantastic, thank you! Was able to find a copy online.

Is it fishing season yet????

i’ve also heard it referred to as Butlers Beach. but i always kinda assumed it was closer to Dogfish Bay.

I think the book you mean is " Salmon Fishing British Columbia " Volume One ,Vancouver Island,by Mike Cramond.
it was published in 1989 by Heritage House.
Not sure if it is still in print. You can usually pick up a copy in local used book store.

I'm going to have my boat up on Sonora for the first week of June. Anyone have advice on where to locate salmon? I'm ok with doing a fair amount of running the boat, 40 miles each way if fine if necessary for best results. Thanks
