2026 Bamfield and Barkley Sound Reports

We're picking up our new boat from Port Boat House on Monday & planning to go out to Bamfield for a couple of days for a bit of a shakedown cruise & hopefully get some salmon or lings (after Apr 1). Any pointers?

Thanks,
Dennis
Been pretty steady down at swale. More on the bam side of swale the last couple weeks. The odd 12lber in the mix (probably some better ones we haven't seen).

Thanks, I was thinking of doing that, but I don't know whether I'll be able to find a good spot in just a couple of days.
prawns- anywhere on a bottom side of an edge. 250-300, even out in the open of trevor channel works.
squids- get over them with your sonar, run 4-5 squid jigs 1' apart.
salmon- dont stick around if they are smalls, find bait and work that depth.
lings- find hill and work the lee side. before rocky point gets there. lol. (outer edges so watch for swell because this can be dangerous and unfun for newbs)

What boat did you get. Enjoy.

Got up for the weekend and dropped lines sat, sun,Monday mornings. Saturday found decent fish at the North East end of Edward King. A few teens in the mix. Sunday was slow for me.
Trolled Sanford, Kirby ed king with not a lot to show. Headed to Beal and had 1 good fish on at Lawton point. Monday morning went to whittlestone and was consistent action but all 6-8 lb fish. Had a good one on that a seal decided was his breakfast. Weather was beauty with almost no wind. Got the boat cleaned up and cabin ready so a decent trip all around.
