Happy New Year everyone, I look forward to providing Ucluelet fishing reports in 2025. Today the weather wasn’t great, crabbing has been okay more males are starting to be caught. For a while lots of females were filling the traps but there’s a better mix now with some nice clean keepers. Looking forward to chinook fishing in the sound once these bad weather systems pass.

A pic today heading out of the harbour.

Anyone been out lately? Have some friends in town and figured it would be nice to have a go with this weather, looks like the humpbacks are staging offshore, hopefully the fish aren't too far behind!

I’ve heard there’s been some nice winter chinook being caught. Not sure exactly where didn’t ask but I would try the Great Bear tack, Red Can or if you’re up for a run try down around swale. Been wanting to go out but the snow and cold weather has caused some procrastination lol. There was ice in the harbour today here’s a pic of seagulls out front of our house standing on it this morning.

Thanks for the update!
Broke ice on the way out yesterday. Hit up great bear before the SE started coming up, one shaker on a big shooter/Wee G combo. Headed in to little beach to get out of the wind and hooked into a nice 6-7lb fish and lost one other that felt smaller, both on the same setup. A few humpbacks out and some birds on bait balls. Feels like the herring are coming in early?

Salmon, halibut and ling fishing sure has been off to a great start. Hali being caught all over first edge, long beach. The boys have been getting them in all the spots. Salmon fishing in the sound and just out front has been great. Lots of lings etc etc, it’s been a great start to the season. The way it’s starting off it’s looking like it’s going to be a very solid year ahead. Spoons and hoochies working well depths 50-100 ft
