2025 Nanaimo Reports

There is a Dutch store just along the road there. Salted candy! And Walker boats accross the street. You could always just grab a bag of candy and just sit and stare at the boat building going on.
Or maybe that's just my dream.
Maybe I'll leave the family at home next time and do exactly that. I almost took off early one morning just to walk around PNT.

They were probably just whale watching. No fish over there. I can report that The Beach Club is a nice spot for a little family vacay. I've never done the Goats On The Roof deal, that place is great for the wife and kids, terrible for the wallet. Nanoose Bay Cafe had a great happy hour. My wife still won't let me move to the island unfortunately. I'll keep trying.
You should stay in the city

We saw a humpback show at the entrance to Dep Bay, around 3pm? Heard the Orcas were heading north through Dodd narrows also at the same time.
Saw a boat playing something as the large CG vessel was returning from the north. Wife and I were on our walk at Neck Pt.
You'd never look back if you were able to make the move over.

We were westbound on BC Ferries and sitting in the front row . ... we saw three humpbacks ( a pair and a then a singleton mid crossing at about 12:15. The singleton caused the Ferry to alter course. No drama. Interesting that the Ferry Crew didn't annouce the whales.

We were late leaving Horseshoe Bay by a few minutes due to the ferry staff delaying departure so everyone, including the majority of the crew, could observe the Two Minutes of Silence while we were still at the dock. I thought that was a very nice touch.

Islands full, sorry dude.

This is such a quiet thread considering the dozen boats I saw at Fingers on the ferry home. Must be just FIRE over there. 😁
I can now confirm this is true! Such a tight-lipped and spoiled bunch over there. 😉
Came for an overnighter with the boy and got some absolute dimes. 4 hatch, 1 wild, which was nice to see.
Shout out to Pages Inn at Silva Bay. Very reasonable winter rates, and a ridiculously beautiful spot.

Went out for a few hours on Sunday in front of pipers/neck point. Steady action between 65/105 feet, but nothing worth keeping. After the 4th or 5th shaker I start to become convinced it’s the same fish. What depth/lures are people getting their winter springs on? Irish cream was the big hit for me, but again not for anything of size

Can't help you on the depths and lures as we didn't hit anything of size either. maybe 45cm eyeball measurement on the largest. Weren't really trying that hard, was mostly out for prawning so just dropped one line down to kill the time, basically trolling were we could keep an eye on our bouys. I think deeper water out by Entrance is where you want to be to find the real fish, but I'm no winter chinook expert, just what I've gleaned from reading.

Either that was you we chatted with at the wash down around 2:30 or so, or some guy is going around using your "same fish" joke?

Hilarious! That was me!

Four good sized fish and two man limit of prawns by 10AM this morning. Heading back to the city. Feels like we just looted the place!

200FOW on bottom with spoons
Pics?!? 😀
Please…..
I hope your not turning into some of these older veterans on here that don’t post any pics for rookies like me
