Hi Guys

I am going to do my first 300 hour service on my 2022 90 hp Mercury 4 stroke over the Christmas break. I have always done my own outboard maintenance but it has been on old 2 strokes. This is my first new motor.

I was wondering if it is worth buying a service manual to get the correct tourqe for bolts etc. or if online videos are good enough.

Also any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Thanks

i always buy a factory manual for the new engine
That’s what I was thinking. I am just being cheap as the shipping is super expensive. Does anyone know of a Canadian distributor for Merc manuals. I just found the link on their US site.

Check ebay, there are sellers that have pdf/CD versions of all the Merc factory service manuals for pretty cheap.

I think most of the torque specifications for the basic maintenance items you describe are in the owners manual, and if you buy the mercury kits/items, the torque settings might be in there too. Is the fuel filter not also part of the 300 hour? I might not do mine because I have the Racor set up before it.

Yes correct. I need to replace the inline filter as well.

Is it still under warranty? I believe you need to take it to an authorized shop for the 300hr service to not void it
