Good fishing from the Trap to the Head today in the fog
came home with 4 , 3 in the teens and one 24 pounds.
Lost two more good ones.
60 to 70'...from 8 - 10 when we quit.
May I ask what you were using for teasers and flashers? Thanks in advance!
~I might head out tomorrow with a buddy.
we like the Green Betsy Flasher, 6' leads and gold-sliver or green silver teaser heads and 10 to a pack anchovies
BUT don't get caught up on the flashers and heads...they are designed mostly to catch fishermen
When the fish are there like they were today almost anything will work
The bait we found was small, so Coho Killer, or Andrew Needlefish spoons also work as well.
It's all about being lucky enough to be at the right place and the right time
And guess what...they will probably be somewhere else tomorrow
sure nice to see more fish showing
Thx for sharing gone fishin that's the nice thing about this forum
Put in an afternoon shift... sort of.... decided to anchor up for Hali.... current was crazy fast... 3 pounds wouldn't stay down. Buoy pretty much under water. I felt the Navionics App was off by about an hour....
Once the tide slowed... one massive hit... spooled a bunch of line then got off.
Did not try for Salmon.... will be out again in the AM... and report what I can.
We have also been using brined and dyed anchovies in chartreuse teaser heads as well as the AP spoons.... both seem to be working.
No fog in the AM will be nice for sure.... Tight lines!
good to know...... thanks for the info..... interesting enough... the local tackle shop sells 3 pound weights....Dont quote me but i believe the fishingn regs say that when fishing for halibut your restricted to a 1kg weight....so 2.2 lbs max.....
Might want to double check into that so that you dont get burned while out fishing.
Thankfls to everyone for the fishing reports...looking forward to gettting out there saturday. Will post a report
Cheers
Sudsy
Those 3 pound weights might be meant to be used for prawn/crab traps to keep them secured on the bottom. Especially with prawn traps you want to add some weights due to current and depth in Sooke Basin.good to know...... thanks for the info..... interesting enough... the local tackle shop sells 3 pound weights....
It is illegal to: fish with a fixed weight (sinker) greater than 1 kg except on a downrigger line, in which case the fishing line must be attached to the downrigger by a release clip. Those 3 pound weights might be meant to be used for prawn/crab traps to keep them secured on the bottom.
