Anyone have one layin about[?]

Just a suggestion, I believe the merc 188 is a 302 Ford (I have the same engine)If your interested I would check out Western Starter on Mitchell Island (lower mainland) don't know where you live though. I have had my starter re-built a couple of times for cheap $60.00. I believe you could pick up a new one for around 120-150 bucks, marinized of course.

Just remember marine starters are a little different they have spark arrestors,if you don't like to run your blower for the suggested time, be care full. I'm sure there are guy's running automotive starters in there boat , but just keep this in mind. I've only had 1 inboard outboard and had to deal with a starter issue, marine starters are redickulously expensive. I just had mine rebuilt, much cheaper, than replacing.

Had no time to wait.... Got one in for $200 out of Van overnight. Had the week off to get the rig floating by Saturday. Rebuilding wasnt and option for this unit [}:)]
Back into the heat...... leg redone, bottom painted, Motor with new face lift.. time to mount gear, redo some wiring (some people can really make a mess of that!!!) and a bit of cosmetics.
Thanks for the help guys [8D]
