I moved to White Rock, BC from the east and lived on the island for a while. I have a full (and I mean full) range of gear. When I lived in Toronto, I made bamboo fly rods for clients. I still have five for sale!!. I don't have a boat, can't seem to get any solid info on fresh or salt water fishing in the area. Anybody out there can help me???? Thanks.

What type of fishing are you looking at doing? If you're looking for freshwater... and you're going to be a River hound I'd recommend the Chillwack, Chehalis, Fraser and all that jazz...there's a competing website out there which focusses on that. Unless you're a 3 am riser, chances are the best spots will be taken..as even during this early season there are 150 + anglers fishing the more popular runs/holes on week days. Good luck finding a good run without someone being there first.

If you're looking for Saltwater trolling/power mooching...seeing as you've posted on the Saltwater forum...there's productive saltwater fishing to be had if you know where to look in the local area..the problem is Pt. Roberts is in the way. Pt. Roberts would be a great place to moor your boat and from there the Strait is your Oyster...just be prepared to spend lots of gas looking for Winter Springs at this time of year from that area. White Rock isn't too far away from Vancouver...25 minutes North on Hwy 99 to Kitsilano/Vancouver where you can launch/charter from there--generally a 20 minute ride puts you on the fish. Any charter firm worth a salt (and maybe a couple not) are based out of Vancouver/Horseshoe Bay area---and you can get on shared charters through some of those firms...and easily give your gear a workout. I know a few locals who probably drop $4000 year on local charter businesses...and they definitely have plenty of fun fishing for prime fresh arriving Salmon. They're the occasional fishing folk who like to fish without the expense and trouble of owning and caring for their own rig. Basically, if they don't have a boat in the water 365 days/year in the local waters, fuhgeddaboudit. Or..if you're looking to spend more cash...then the Queen Charlotte Islands will give you bar none the best value for your money in terms of a package deal if you have a fishing partner.

Welcome to the BC Coast!

Tahnks very much. It sounds like getting salmon or halibut is a charter situation which is a problem when you're a single - especially the cost and trying to find a company which will "fit you in". Any charter outfits you could recommend for the Fraser or ??? Thank again.

Thanks. Really apprecite the info.

I moved from WR almost 30 years ago but there used to be some good Cutt fishing from the beaches as you move towards Ocean Park. Seeing how SRC are an indicator fish I don't want to post the spots on the web. I'll just say that there are beach access locations at the ends of some of the aves.

Also, the little campbell used to hold steelhead, I don't know if you can still fish it.
