Where I'll be for 2013

A Very Good Buddy of mine encountered a situation that precludes him from running his charter business this coming season. He has asked me to take over the helm for the 2013 Fishing Season, and of course I readily agreed.

So, for the upcoming season I will be running his newer 2510 Proline - a Very Well Appointed rig with all of the latest Bells & Whistles and designed explicitly for Safe & Fun Fishing Excursions off Vancouver Island's West Coast.

Here is a Link to the Company Website, Moonsnail Charters, once again based in Ucluelet where I know the waters so well: http://www.moonsnailcharters.ca/

This is shaping up to be a Great Season off our West Coast! Already predictions of Massive Returns to the Western US have begun to materialize, with higher than expected early catches being recorded in many systems. The mighty Columbia alone is expected to see nearly Seven Hundred Thousand Springs and Half a Million Coho return over the late summer and fall months ( http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/bill_monroe/index.ssf/2013/02/salmon.html ) and each and every one of those fish will be finning their way to our Most Excellent Feeding Grounds to fatten up for the final stages of their journey. Combined with the expected increase of local stocks, they will certainly be proving some Excellent Fishing Opportunities for those who wish to get in on the FUN!

Halibut numbers are calculated to be much the same as last year, but we can expect to see an increase in size due to another year's worth of pounding on more weight!

All in all, the Opportunities for Action are looking STELLAR for 2013! I am Pleased to be able to help my Buddy out and hunt the grounds I have so much familiarity with!

Hope to see some of you out there getting in on the Excitement!!
Looking Forward!!

Dan has to take it easy this season for medical reasons. He will be alright in the long run methinks.
Suspect he'll also be about from time to time, as once the Sea is In Your Blood... ;)

Cheers,
Nog

Congrats Matt. Best wishes go out to Dan. Along with you, he is a guide willing to offer us stooges good Ukee fishing info. He is also very entertaining when unsuspecting visitors try to tie outside him in the crowded basin. He has a unique method of dissuading them.

I hope I've been a long old friend to Dan. I can remember some of his earlier excursions when he was learning how to catch salmon. I offered him my limited knowledge and he went from there. I've never seen anyone so dedicated to trying to perfect the art of catching fish. It's like the old proverb where the student exceeds the master. I'm proud of that. Get well soon Dan.;) Eddie

Cheers All...

Best wishes DAN ... rest and get better ... which will be much the easier with the very talented Matt at the helm during your recovery. Have a great season Matt and I will catch you on one of my trips to the Big Water this summer.

Dan took my 8 year old girl and two of her friends out for an afternoon of fishing...they learned how to catch coho and sing fishing songs (with there first swear words)....get well soon buddy!

I wanted to check out your website, I couldn't log in, it says server is down.

Thanks for the head's up - Appreciated!

It appears the server gave up the ghost. As the season is pretty well booked, I don't know if it will get back up and running any time soon. There are still a couple of days available, so if interested, shoot me a pm. Never know, just might be able to sneak you in... ;)

Cheers,
Nog

Headed out to Ukee today. Finish servicing the boat, readying the gear, and starting the season off next week.
Already some great fish coming in, and getting better each passing day!
Suspect we will indeed see more than our fair share of Biggies this season!

Damn near completely booked now, but the odd spot scattered over the summer still left that I'd consider dragging another from here along for.

For those already booked, Fasten Your Seatbelts! It's going to be a FUN Ride!!

Just back from Ucluelet for a night. Spent the last couple getting the new-to-me ride ready to roll and she certainly is a SWEETHEART!
26 feet long, 10 feet wide, with 350 ponies on her stern! Very Well Appointed for The Hunt in our waters!

I'll be headed back tomorrow for another offshore run the day following. Already some damn nice fish wandering up the docks! But wanted to fire up a couple pictures of The Chariot for you to gaze upon...

That boat knows the waters around Ukee so well you will hardly need to steer it! Hope the season will be a great one for you and Moonsnail!

Between that and my own little understanding of what goes on out there, we're hoping for a few to the holds! ;)

Thanks for the well-wishes! I will indeed pass them along to the Big Boy!

Hope you land on a few yourself!

Cheers,
Nog

That's a sweet ride for sure and those twins will give it a much more stable ride in the trough.

I really like the walkaround feature.

I think you just found everyones dream summer job, getting paid to fish in gods country (WCVI)..........Tight Lines

I agree with the features of the boat but this ain't Nog's first rodeo ;). He's been guiding for awhile.
