when stuff you expect to work flawlessly decides to crap itself out on the water......

So had an alarm go off and was confused as to where its coming from -- turns out that when you exceed a few hundred Ah usable capacity, the victron BMV-712 battery monitor doesnt like it very much. if you do use a BMV712 it will wrap around once your battery capacity exceeds 200Ah. in my case its well above 400Ah so it shows zero when I literally have 250Ah left. should have been 65% remaining not 15%.

also the autopilot decided to not autopilot anymore. turns out using nuts with lock washers doesnt work - the nuts vibrate themselves out. use nylocks (i would have but the store was out -- time to get nylocks).

i think its the vibrations from the electric drive+autopilot ram drive force. anyway, nyloks are here so i'll give them a try next weekend.
but electric drive is totally the way to go. like a sailboat without sails. love it.
