What size winch is on your trailer?

What size winch is on your trailer? I recently purchased a bigger boat and had to replace the rusted old electric winch and put on a 3200 pound 2 speed manual winch. Its what was recommended by a marine shop and i saw tuff trailer uses the same size winch up to the 13000 pound capacity trailer. My issue is the 3rd time i used the new winch the handle bent really bad and is basically useless now. I felt like the handle was defective as i wasn't really working the winch too hard when it happened. I contacted the manufacturer and they were great to deal with but said the cause was the boat being too heavy for the winch. I'm a bit confused because i see bigger boat trailers at the ramp with 3200 pound winches on them. My boat is about 9000 pounds on a roller trailer. Wondering if i need to find a heavier duty winch or not. What does everyone else have on their trailers pulling similar size boats?

I have a 3200# manual Fulton winch, geared 2:1 -- sounds like yours. My trailer is carpet bunks with sliders on the stern end and the boat is a 23 Hourston that weighs ~6500#s. I can move the boat on dry bunks, and I am nowhere near strong enough to bend the handle on the Fulton!

Thanks for that. Mine is a Curt brand winch and i would assume should be able to pull the boat on rollers no problem especially if you can move yours on dry bunks. The warranty guy was really nice and helpful on the phone. He's sending a replacement in case it was a defect that caused the failure. If the second one fails i guess ill be searching for something more heavy duty.
