WHAT IS UP WITH THESE GUYS ???

At 1000 they still have the STRONG WIND "red bar"
warning up, yet Hali bank reports calm, Sandheads and airport report 2.
Yesterday when I was at the hump they had the wind warning posted and I didn't see a waive from 1000-1500, the whole time out there.

THESE GUYS REPORTS ARE BOGUS IF YOU ASK ME

WHAT DO U GUYS THINK ?

I use Windfinder.com and also Big Wave Dave's wind predictor.......then I compare that to the marine forecast on Environment Canada Weather.

ECW forcasts come from back east I believe.......and if I had a dollar for every time they were wrong I could buy myself a new boat.

I think they like to cover their butts a lot with maximum wind forecasts so that nobody can come back on them later.

On ECVI they have "North of Nanaimo" and "South of Nanaimo"......and the two forecasts on the same day can be TOTALLY different....so if you live in Nanaimo you have no idea which one will be correct , if at all.

I use the sites I mentioned and take an overall average of them all.

If I go down to the beach here, I can see Nanaimo,Denman Island, Lasquiti,Texada all from where I'm standing.....but there will be totally different forecasts for all of them.....

x2 I use windfinder.com and find that is the most accurate site out there. HOWEVER the weather can and does change for the forecasts and it's best to check the site frequently. Several times I've checked windfinder.com the night before and it shows 2kt winds and calm seas. At 5:00am the next morning the forecast has changed to 5-10kt winds and 2' waves. It does happen.

If you check windfinder the morning before you launch it will usually be accurate for winds throughout that day. But don't count on the 3 day advance forecast being 100% accurate. It will almost certainly change before you get to that 3rd day.
