Check out the SIZE of this Monster! Flat day out on the Big Pond and a few rigs working (actually Pounding) on the springs when this Ugly rose up behind a few of the farther rides:

Is that a tornado over water?

Basically Yes.

Well whatever it is... I'd be watching THAT ONE! :)
First thing I thought was - that thing is about the size of a tornado, but I believe that might be big "non-tornatic waterspout"!

You can tell by the clouds; no thunderclouds, no cumulus clouds - no tornado! You have to have one of those mentioned, before you can have a “tornatic waterspout”. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous!

Non-tornatic Waterspouts: Move slowly, if at all, and dissipate fairly quickly (usually less than 20 minutes). Have a dark, flat-bottom, developing convective cumulus towers. They are known to create high winds in excess of 60 MPH, and very similar to “landspouts”, winds, but have no updraft, so no updraft - no tornado.

Now "tornadic waterspouts: are not only basically a tornado - they are and very accurately referred to as "tornadoes over water". They form essentially identical to land-based tornadoes. Have to have thunderclouds, (or at least cumulus clouds to form a weak one), normally will have severe thunderstorms associated, tornado simply over water. They do have the rotating updrafts associated with a supercell thunderstorm. And, are very rare in our area!

So, let’s see? One has the potential to either just blow you away and can suck you up into it; while the other just has the potential to blow you away!

Hmmm… I guess you could say basically the same, except one sucks and the other blows! [:0]

Me, I think I’ll be staying away from both – especially, if I see one that size!

Nice picture! I can't believe how flat that water looks?

'Sucks' & blows'... is that a bad thing?
