I stopped being able to find them a couple of years ago. I go through one every couple of years.

This is the one I like best and at this late date is most likely the best you'll do.

It's just 2 chainsaw files shrinkwrapped at either end, tack welding would work too, puts a wicked edge on any hook.

Sounds Interesting , you put 2 files side by side , tac weld them together , in parallel , on the unused bottom side , run your hook through the seem between the two files ?? Hope I understood that correctly ,sounds good , do they not rust , I only fish Salt water mostly !! FD

Thanks , I guess i'm an old dog that doesn't want to learn any new tricks , I really like the C.W. battery powered Hook Sharpener, I kept it on board , allway's exposed to the water and weather , great quality stone with this particular one , i could sharpen even the worst hooks on the market, to a deadly, nasty laser sharp point in 3 seconds, when action is fast and furious , hooks can get damaged on removing from fish or netting , etc.. I sometimes need a bit more than a little stroke or 2 on one of those pencil type sharpeners , when your dealing with larger circle hooks, and or 7/0/to 10/0 , the pencil sharpener can be a little tedious , the electric stone , 3 seconds, your ready to fish , just my preference, i like your chainsaw file trick , only if we could find one in SS !!!( I fish offshore alot ) Cheers FD

If you want the ultimate hook sharpener, try a cordless dremel! I've been using the same one for about 8 years. I've tried several battery hook sharpeners for $15 - $25 that broke after a year. I finally gave up and bought a dremel with a hook sharpening stone attachment.

This is exactly what I am looking for ,the 4.8 volt is only around $35 and you can replace the stone when ever you want , AWESOME !!! Thanks FishWish , do you know who sells them here in Vancouver , found them online , thanks in advance FD

Home Depot or E-Bay has the cordless dremel ,4.8 Volt is all we need,around $45 , you can buy the stones seperately , It's Perfect for me !!

I bought mine at House of Tools and I think Home Depot carries them too.
