Volvo DP Prop seized to the shaft - FIXED!

Hi guys,

So I have a Volvo DP-SM leg that was installed new in 2017 with 300 hours. At the same time new stainless F3's were installed as well. Well time goes by and Ifigured we should change the gear oil and sure enough, the front prop came off no problem but the rear was not going to budge.

Internet to the rescue...I found this thread here:

I figured my old gear puller wasn't going to cut it so I picked up a new one and some 1/8" aircraft stainless wire and 2 clamps. I used a "i lost something small in a deep, dark place" extractor to pull the wire through the exhaust ports to create the 3 loops then had at it with the puller. After the second alignment of the pulleys the GD thing actually started to move and then it was all over, victory was mine.

I'm sure others have already figured this out but no need for the fancy Volvo "seized prop" removal tool, if I can figure this out anyone can.
