Hi Bryan,
Take a bit of advice from a soon to be ex Telus employee. After waiting on the phone for 45 minutes(and it's usually more than that)and you're given the option of English or French, choose French.That should get you a Canadian rep who in 99% of the cases speaks excellent English(a requirement of employement) as well as French and can understand you and who you'll be able to understand when they tell you you'll have to wait 8 days for your phone to be repaired.
FYI,at a recent meeting that we were required to attend (I was told to go home and change out of my linemen attire.Didn't do it.)with a company VP he announced that all customer service(that's an oxymoron) would be returning to Canada in the New Year. Now all of you will be able to understand when you're told that you'll be without your phone for another six weeks.
Funny how in years past when we had local dispatch and no private contractors and the company we worked for was BC TEL and not whoever it is we work for now, we managed to get downed lines and dead phones up and working pretty darned quick.We weren't perfect but we really did care about our customers and we tried our best. Today the system doesn't let us do our job as we should be able to.
Now just in case my boss reads this complimentary post and gets upset(he's always upset with me anyways so I might as well keep feeding him), I'm going to add that this is my opinion only. I realize that our illustrious CEO doesn't want his serfs to have opinions but I believe that the laws of the land allow us that right.
